Snickers Cookies

Servings: 5 Total Time: 22 mins Difficulty: Beginner
5-ingredient, flourless cookies with dates and peanut butter

If you love the combination of chocolate, peanut butter, and caramel-like dates, these little Snickers cookies are such a fun recipe to make. They need only five basic ingredients and come together without flour or added sugar. Dates provide natural sweetness and help create a soft, moist texture, while peanut butter brings richness and plenty of nutty flavor. Cocoa gives them that deep chocolate taste without making the recipe complicated. I made 10 small cookies from one batch, so this recipe is perfect for sharing — two cookies per person for five people. You can enjoy them as they are, or add a little melted chocolate and chopped peanuts on top for an even more indulgent finish. 🍫

Note

🍫 Why are these called Snickers Cookies?

The combination of dates, peanut butter, cocoa, chocolate, and peanuts gives these little cookies flavors that are reminiscent of a Snickers bar, but in a much simpler homemade version.

Naturally sweetened

The basic recipe contains no added sugar. The sweetness comes from the dates, which also help create the soft texture of the cookies.

No flour needed

There is no wheat flour in this recipe. The dates and peanut butter provide the structure, while the egg helps bind everything together.

Are they gluten-free?

The ingredients themselves are naturally gluten-free, but if you need the recipe to be strictly gluten-free, check that your baking powder and peanut butter are certified gluten-free and that there is no cross-contamination during preparation.

Are these high-protein cookies?

They contain some protein from the peanut butter and egg, but I would describe them as a source of protein rather than a high-protein dessert. If you want more protein, you could experiment with adding a suitable protein powder, although this may change the texture and sweetness.

Don't overbake them

The cookies only need around 12 minutes. They may still feel soft when they first come out of the oven, but they will firm up as they cool. Overbaking can make them dry.

Make them extra Snickers-like

For a more indulgent version, drizzle the cooled cookies with melted chocolate and sprinkle them with chopped peanuts. The combination of chocolate and crunchy peanuts makes them especially fun to serve. 🍫

The texture

Because they are made with dates and peanut butter rather than flour, these cookies have a naturally soft and moist center. Once cooled, the outside becomes slightly firmer.

Use soft dates

Soft, sticky dates work best because they blend and mash more easily. If your dates are very dry, soaking them for a little longer can help soften them.

That is normal. They will continue to firm up as they cool. Allow them to cool completely before deciding whether they need more baking time.
