Soft Chocolate Banana Cake – No Oven Needed

A chocolate cake in a pan, ready in minutes? This recipe makes it possible! 🍌🍫 Made with rolled oats, eggs, banana, cocoa and Weider Gold Whey Milk Chocolate, this simple homemade cake is soft, chocolatey and full of banana flavor. The best part is that you don’t need an oven or complicated ingredients — just a blender and a covered frying pan.

For this recipe, I used Weider Gold Whey in Milk Chocolate flavor, available through GAZ Nutrition. The whey protein adds a chocolate flavor that works beautifully with the banana and cocoa, making it a fun way to use protein powder in a homemade dessert rather than just a shake.

The banana slices cook underneath the batter, becoming soft and naturally sweet, while the chocolate mixture sets into a tender little cake. Serve it warm or let it cool before slicing. It’s a lovely option for breakfast, an afternoon snack or whenever you’re craving something chocolatey.

Note

Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • No oven needed: A covered frying pan does all the work, making this a handy recipe when you don't want to heat up the kitchen.
  • Chocolate and banana: Cocoa and chocolate whey bring a rich flavor, while the banana adds natural sweetness.
  • A protein boost: Eggs and whey protein both contribute protein, making this more protein-focused than a traditional banana cake.
  • Oats instead of conventional flour: Rolled oats provide carbohydrates and fiber. You can blend them directly with the other ingredients, so there's no need to buy oat flour.
  • A fun cooking trick: The banana slices go underneath the batter, creating a soft, fruity layer when the cake is turned out.

Extra Notes

  • Use a ripe banana: A ripe banana is sweeter and easier to blend, so the batter has a better flavor without needing added sugar.
  • Keep the heat low: This is the most important step. High heat can burn the banana underneath before the center of the cake has cooked.
  • Choose a suitable pan: A good non-stick pan with a lid makes it easier to cook and turn out the cake. A smaller pan will generally produce a thicker cake.
  • Check the center: Seven minutes is a guide, not a guarantee. The cake should be set in the middle, with no raw egg batter remaining. Cook longer if needed.
  • Turn it out carefully: Let the cake rest for a minute before loosening the edges and turning it onto a plate.
  • Want extra chocolate flavor? A small sprinkle of cocoa on top or a few dark chocolate pieces can make it feel even more like dessert.
  • Can you make it gluten-free? Oats are naturally gluten-free, but they can be contaminated during processing. Use certified gluten-free oats and check the whey protein packaging for gluten or trace warnings if this matters to you.
