Description
These traditional plum dumplings are made with a soft potato dough wrapped around fresh plums. After boiling, the dumplings are coated in golden toasted breadcrumbs and can be served with sugar, sour cream, or jam.

Cook the potatoes until tender. Allow them to cool, then mash or pass them through a potato ricer.

Add the butter, egg, egg yolk, salt, and flour. Knead until you have a soft dough.

Divide the dough into pieces. Place one plum in the center of each piece and shape the dough around the plum to form a dumpling.

Repeat with the remaining dough and plums. This recipe makes approximately 12 dumplings.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Carefully add the dumplings.

Once the dumplings float to the surface, cook them for another 2–3 minutes, then remove them from the water.

Heat a little oil or butter in a pan and fry the breadcrumbs until golden. Add cinnamon and vanilla sugar, if desired.

Roll each cooked dumpling in the toasted breadcrumbs until coated.

Serve with sugar, sour cream, jam, or enjoy them as they are.
Note
- Allow the cooked potatoes to cool before making the dough so the mixture is easier to work with. .
- Make sure the dough completely covers each plum so the dumplings do not open while cooking.
- You can adjust the sweetness by serving the dumplings with sugar, cinnamon, vanilla sugar, jam, or sour cream.
