Inspired by the classic Smoki, but made at home with simple ingredients, this version is lighter, higher in protein, and free from additives — a better-for-you alternative you can enjoy without guilt.

Description

These homemade peanut “smoki” snacks are a fun, crispy, and protein-rich alternative to store-bought snacks. “Smoki” snack is a very popular snack across the countries of former Yugoslavia and are strongly associated with childhood memories and nostalgia. Many of us grew up eating them. That is why I wanted to try to create my own healthy homemade version.

  1. Whisk the egg whites into stiff peaks.
  2. Grind the peanuts into a coarse flour.
  3. Add peanuts and peanut butter into the egg whites.
  4. Gently fold everything together until combined.
  5. Transfer mixture into a piping bag.
  6. Pipe small “smoki” shapes onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake at 180°C for about 15 minutes, until lightly golden and crispy.
  8. Let cool before serving for maximum crunch.
